EDMONTON -- Michael Kalmanovitch might not be allowed to sell white poppies this Remembrance Day, but that hasn't stopped him from keeping the message of the controversial flower alive.

"A lot of people see the red poppy as something that glorifies war," he said.

    Well those people are idiots.

I can't for the life of me understand some of these people that come here and say the red poppy glorifies war. Honestly, are they really that stupid or is it willful ignorance?

Sorry but you are wrong Streaker, and furthermore you can't even prove you're right. Obviously lately I've seen hundreds of people wearing the red poppy, and not one of those people has made any celebration of war. There are hundreds of events going on today and not one of those will be a celebration of war but rather a memorial to the people that sacrificed for us. I honestly can't understand where you get your idea that the red poppy is a glorification of war. If you can shed some light on that I'd like to hear it.

Meh the same people who say the poppy glorifies war are the same that protest Afghanistan with signs saying no blood for oil.

Pretty much. It basically boils down to him not liking the war and he's perverted the poppy into something it's not.

Any Rememberence Day event I've ever gone to has more anything stated how horrible war is. I really don't know what these people are smoking.

The only thing the red poppy "glorifies" is the memory of those who fought, and sacrificed their lives for, the rights and freedoms of these misguided souls to be able to voice their opinion that the red poppy glorifies war.

    HERE HERE!!! PDT_Armataz_01_37

They should go back and re-read the poem that the symbol of the poppy comes from. It makes it all too clear to even the cloudiest mind. If they still don't understand, Ask a Vet. They will be happy to clear it up. Oh, and don't forget to thank 'em after.
