Tories mulling cut in diesel tax: Sources

Eliminating that tax would benefit the biggest users of diesel fuel, namely city-run bus services, railways and trucking outfits. Benefits would accrue to manufacturers and consumers, as it would reduce costs associated with shipping goods to market.

That's right, cut the tax to hide the true cost of the crap we only think we need to buy and the lifestyle we think we need to lead. And do it by reducing the Government's ability to operate. That's a great idea.

Interesting idea, unfortunately there's no guarantee the retailers won't raise the price of diesel by four cents the following day. Still it's better than nothing at all.

Any success on you're victory garden coffee beans? How's the bannana tree out back? Gee. I guess you'll have to make room in you're hydroponics shed for something else.

Maybe we can start by slapping a tarrif on all the crap we import from China?
Those ships don't run on rainbows either.

Do you just read people's names and reply based on that? Because I see no evidence that you read my post.

I understand that the stuff we buy comes from far away, on ships powered by diesel (or some other fuel), loaded onto trains powered by diesel, loaded onto trucks powered by diesel, perhaps multiple times each. The cost of fuel has been subsidized for too long. People don't know what the stuff they buy should cost. Now it's catching up and what's the demand? Lower taxes so that the true cost can grow more, but be hidden.

What do we get? A week of reprieve? Two weeks? Maybe a month if you're really optimistic. Then we're back where we started, only the government has less money to do its job with. Less money to provide education and health care and defense.

    Suck it up.

Yeah for dumbthink. The Tories can't survive without it!
Big Oil has screwed us everytime, so maybe if we cut the slice we take that can actually do the country some good.... they'll suddenly be NICE GUYS...
    DUUUHHHH!!!

No, it was actually a little satire.
For all the glowing recomendations of the green preachers, their usually the first that demand fresh mangos and exotic tropical fruit. Al Gore and his Arctic Char for example.

I definately don't like how everything runs in trucks but we (all) only have ourselves to blame for not demanding effective rail use. At some point in time though, all those exotic fresh fruits and fish have to show up at the downtown Capers so greenies can buy them, cook them up and congradulate themselves on the use of their garden tommatos and balcony grown dill.

Meanwhile, the cost of milk, eggs and everything in the rest of BC has just gone up. Time to reduce the dedicated gas taxes just a bit.

    ....

There's PLENTY of money for education, healthcare and defense.
What there's not money for, is all the crap that Canadians don't need,
but unfortunately both legitimate parties seem to feel they need to
buy votes with incessant obsolete, special-interest or overlap spending.
Both parties are like a family who have fallen on hard times,
yet still wantonly spend money on luxuries instead of necessities.

You're still pissed because I gave you neg rep for your nasty anti-fireman (The explosion should have been bigger) remark.

Got any more? Like I said in the past, neg points from you are a badge of honour. I'll take as many as you can dish out!

I ain't crying...I said getting negative rep points from you is a badge of honour...guess that's what happens when you drop out of school...you're illiterate. I think the YMCA in Cowtown offers Adult reading classes, maybe you should give them a call if you can figure out how to work the telephone...

If you are too fucking stupid to understand that making jokes about propane explosions (in which a fireman was killed and others wounded) isn't in awful taste, then there's nothing anyone can do for you. Then again, 99% your posts are generally filled with such vitriolic hatred that you're beyond any reasonable help.
