The provincial government and petroleum sector -- already facing criticism over "dirty oil" from the oilsands -- experienced another setback Wednesday when a British advertising regulator ruled it's "misleading" for Shell to call Alberta's oilsands a sust

Alberta economy is getting closer to a bust. History repeats itself. :|

Save your dollars, there are going to be some cheap bank own houses on the market soon. mtrb's house should go for at least $50,000

I think an Obama win in the USA would be the final nail in the coffin for the Alberta economy.

Personally I say John McCain for President, a hero to our nation and true patriot.

The Republicans don't deserve a single vote after the last 8 years.

Sure they do, and if Bush was running again (which he can't) I would vote for him.

I would bet he's the most hated President in history, but he would win if he ran again. Besides, he's a Texan!!

It won't matter who wins, Alberta oil will flow south to the US. They aren't stupid enough to trade with Iran instead of us.

Too bad the Saudis are pumping every drop they can to keep their corrupt government afloat and the insurgents keep the Iraqi oil industry from operating at even 20% of what it was before Operation Iraqi Liberation (OIL)....

Maybe so but that will change.

Further, if Obama get's in he will start drilling in the USA and 50 miles offshore. The dependency on foreign oil also includes Canada, and the USA will break the habit at the cost of the Alberta economy.

So where is that pipeline to Prince George or somewhere around that area to ship crude to China, or was that just a pipe dream??

What I don't understand is all the fuss. When I stick that nozzle into my gas tank, I don't give a shit where the gas came from. (dirty oil, middle east, gulf of Mexico) All I care about is the price and that my car will run for another 500 miles.

    That's the problem right there.

Do you think OPEC would have so much influence and power if we didn't buy oil from them? If we drove more efficient vehicles/ had more efficient power plants, etc, we could tell them to shove their oil up there asses and not give a damn about them and their war on the Great Satan. Just ignore them like Africa and the problem would pretty much go away.

Instead, we put thousands of troops in countries around the Middle East to protect our interests and, in the eyes of the extremists, occupy their countries. Do you think any Muslims gave a fuck about the West in 1900? Or whether we cared about them or not in 1900? Hell no. The Iranian Revolution was motivated (at least in part) by US influence in Tehran. Why do you think the Saudis give shitloads to El Qaeda? To keep them from starting a civil war and killing off the Saudi royal family.

If we didn't need their oil, we wouldn't have to deal with them and all their BS.

trutium, the LAST country the US would stop importing oil from would be Canada. There are plenty of countries we would like to stop buying from before you guys.

This has to be one of the more imbecilic anti-oilsands threads I've seen at CKA yet. A British advertising regulator sides with the dunces at WWF and somehow this means that Ft. McMurray is going to shut down and go bust? Whatever.

The more I get exposed to this sort of nonsensical pandering the more I realize how deeply our school system has failed us all by not including classes in basic logic as part of the core curriculum.

Are you in the wrong thread? Or did the United States annex Britain?
