Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro slammed Edmonton Thursday in an Internet column addressing the two baseball players who defected during a junior tournament in the city.

    I kept misreading the first paragraph. I misread 'defected' as defecated, hence Edmonton being called a dumping ground. But that didn't make sense as I read on... then I clued in.
