A tornado touched down in the Alberta town of Vulcan on Tuesday evening, part of a spell of wicked weather that caused widespread damage southeast of Calgary.
Pretty hot today with daytime heating at +27 the thunderheads have built and the lightning is crashing here in the rocky mountains 270 kliks south of Calgary. I'm going to set up my cam on video with a big card and hopefully get some good strikes on turtle mountain. AR will see this in about 2 or 3 hours.

Ok I'll be waiting, but that's cheating, try and get it with the click of the shutter like this one. I had this set at 4 sec. and to much zoom, even on the tripod i got a bit of movement in it. I didn't get anything in the other 40 or so pictures took that night.
And I forgot to add this one this morning. You mountain people don't get to stand back and admire these storms. They just pass over and thats that.
Nice pics, too bad they are starting to look all to common(the clouds I mean)We had our first bit of hail in the south of the city today hard to believe we went this long with out getting hit by one this summer. Now enough of the god damn rain and bring on the 30 degree weather with 15% humidity make it last for 2 months. I want to feel a drought and i want it now!

You live in the wrong part of the country... That is exactly the kind of weather I am having since about a month

Hope you get some good ones tonight.
Thing is when we get lightning it's damn close and hard to get pics of.We only get milliseconds warning and thats why 3 of my buds have been hit when i worked on the mountain in BC.Try working on an exploration drill with 800 feet of steel in the ground and the boss says it's safe because its like a big lightning rod.
Seriously though I use the video just because you can take individual frames off it in windows movie maker. glad you took up photography for a hobby, you have a good eye for pics. You got one more month for more tornado pics in your area.
The only damage I could find was from the wall of hail.
Beautiful!!
O.K. so what is up with Albertans crying about a Tornado like it's something new or so dam special.
14 years living in Texas, in a good storm we get 6 or 7 that hit the Metroplex. Nothing new, or that exciting.
The warning sirens mess with your head more...
I have a better chance of winning the lotto. Going to be a ticket.
