The Tory government announced a multi-billion-dollar 20-year plan to strengthen Canada's military, which includes the purchase of new aircraft, armoured vehicles, ships and helicopters and a goal to expand the Forces to 100,000.

It sounds like a lot, but adding 5,000 to the regular forces isn't enough. What happens if Harper isn't running the show in 20 years? Will the Liberals follow through with this? i doubt it...

20 years seems like far to long a time line to be much of an announcement.
