Why is the auditor-general making determinations on the fitness of Sussex Drive? Is she a general contractor?

Ah! He just wants to leave it for a Liberal to do. Dion prolly has much better taste than Harpseal any day.

Oh and he will move when the Canadian people tell him to, the pregnant goldfish.

I wouldn't mind taking a walk through the house and see if it needs the repairs myself.

Sorta funny the critics here are so obviously obsessively partisan their remarks are meaningless......such comes from an inability to accept the results of an election.

Harper's position is refreshing. If it works don't fix it. I speculate he is confortable and doen't want his home distrubed. Perhaps he is concerned that the swivellel service will hire interior decorators who have weird tastes........

Or perhaps some of us believe in fixing a problem when it's small - and relatively inexpensive - rather than waiting till it absolutely HAS to be done.
I'd like to know if this is about fixing a problem or renovating an old building.

10 million and 12 to 15 months, sounds like a complete reno.

Didn't Rick Mercer do a show with either Martin or Harper putting plastic up in the windows? That was pretty funny.

I agree with ya. What a bunch of partizan hacks. So now Harper is squandering and damaging our precious historical buildings? You can just imagine that one side would bitch that the furnature he bought from Wosks was too expensive yet the stuff he bought from Wal Mart was made in China.

Spending money on official residences has always been a political minefield in Ottawa, with elected politicians not wanting to look as if they are spending money on their own comfort. Former Reform party leader Preston Manning joked about turning Stornoway, the official residence of the opposition leader, into a bowling alley. Former prime minister Pierre Trudeau's desire for a swimming pool became a national debate.

This is just sad but I can understand Harper not jumping up to fix it either. Well, all that asbestos will make sure the wiring from the 1950's will have no chance of a fire there at least.
