To be quite honest, I was pissed when they picked another immigrant to be Governor General of Canada, but I have been pleasantly suprised by Madame Jean.

She has kept a low profile and represented Canada, where required, in a dignified proper manner, very unlike her predecessor.

Too bad she kept bad company before becoming GG, you know her FLQ dinner guests in the past, being part of a documentry saying "vive le Quebec libre", but hey , them just the pesky little details.

Most of the "top ten best countries to live in" are constitutional monarchies. The Crown, represented by the Queen, is the solid underlying strength to our system of government.
The Royal family is a class act, in spite of tabloids trying to tear them down. Prince Charles said, "The things I've had to eat in the name of the Commonwealth!" And he ate them with good manners.
Compare that to President George Bush Sr. who, at a Japanese state dinner, puked all over the Prime Minister of Japan.

Nah, just plug him in and have him pre-warm himself. just make sure it is a GFCI outlet so you don't get electrocuted when you flush him.

True enough and that could be the reason for the low profile. Although I'm not a fan of any Liberal appointee, you've got to admit that next to Adriene Clarkson, she's a vast improvement.
