what are you talking about? I watched the same broadcast and they only made a little joke about it because if you didn't notice the gear was in rough shape which is an extremely rare occuracne at the world stage. The fact that the kid played amazing and is a terrific goalie is a point that all Canadians that watched the game would clearly understand, and that is the point TSN mainly talked about. You seriously gotta lighten up.
Screw that, they didn't have to bring up the, "little joke" at all. Matter of fact I was to busy being impressed at his ability to notice he was wearing old pads until they said that.
