You know what i like is I am a leftie and RUEZ, im assuming is a Rightie, and we are on the same page. If we could all stand together we could get heard on a National, if not Global, level. At least that is my hope.

I'm right when it comes to economics and justice and various things, but I lean left when it comes to human rights, gay rights, womens rights. You get the idea.

It is going to take some small country, or a smattering of them to get this ball rolling. I don't see any of the large western countrys starting it, but I think they will pile on if a trend starts.

    won't happen..

it is nice (and important) to hope, but too many companies and gov'ts

have put money into China, they wont risk it.

US boycott in '80.. what changed.. nothing

Soviet boycott in '84.. what changed.. nothing

the mistake was giving them the games in the place..

we could have put pressure on the Tibet issue at that time..

    we didnt........

Ya it is probably too late on that aspect, but I dont think we should send athletes period. At least resisters are starting to rise up in Tibet, but all foreign journalist have been ordered to leave, it is very reminiscent of other atrocities in the world. I would have to agree with the Dalai that it appears a cleansing is on the horizon.

It can start with the games...and lead to other boycotts. I personally have made a very conscious decision never to buy Chinese made products. It is more expensive to buy Canadian or American, but I just dont buy as much and have found the products last longer. So it can be done.

I rest my case!!! It can be done!!! We just need the rest of the world to realize that we dont need child produced products. And games in the name of Tibetan bloodshed....(I know that is not what you said but I had to put a plug in.. )

I'd love to...but if Canada does this and there's no domino effect....we're completely screwed and everyone knows it. China will shut us out, and we'll have to buy that cheap crap from the US who buys it from China

That is the attitude that allows countries to continue in there ways. Why not be a leader and show the world what we stand for?

China deserves the Olympics, all those athletes full of synthetic drugs and steroids, I cant think of a better place for them and the power hungry Olympic Board members. The Olympics have finally arrived at their true home.

I'm not disagreeing...but this can backfire if we can't get support. We should get a few countries backing us before we do this
