It's time for us to win back the streets of Canada from these punks.... A liberal slap on the wrists is no longer working...

This is everyday news in Britain, and Ireland lol. Kind of great that our worst news besides for the war is everyday news in other countries. We must be doing something right?

Though TO violence and gangs is getting out of control.

Of course over-population breeds crime because the gap between rich and poor is more obvious.

True, but don't forget the middle class people.

Get your facts straight, most people in Toronto and other big cities in Canada are middle class.

One law abiding citizen with a concealed pistol could have put an end to this.

As rich people rarely ride subways how then was this an incident of class warfare? If anything this was not a matter of class warfare, but of criminals waging war against legally helpless citizens.

I was in London in 1999 with a couple pals from Hereford when a couple on our train was accosted by a couple of swarthy youths. My two friends got up and politely told the two youths to behave and to leave the nice couple alone so the youths turned on my friends. A few broken limbs and bloodied faces later the fracas was over. At the next stop my friends carried the two boys off the train and set them on a bench before telling me to keep up as we double timed up to the street to catch a cab. See, my friends would have been charged with assault had they been caught interfering in the criminals' activities.

I simply cannot fathom a government that not only renders its citizens helpless by disarming them, it further insists that they do not resist criminals.

The only rationale I can think of for this is to establish a mindset in the populace where if they are conditioned to not resist the criminal actions of criminals then they will also not resist the criminal actions of their government.

Or made it far far worse. Suppose that law abiding citizen shot and killed an innocent bystander.

What then? Would they be charged with murder/manslaughter?

    Should they be charged?

Excellent point Bart. I've come to realize it is the perception of our society that those who commit crime are now viewed as victims of our society and the true victims are mere collateral damage. This perception wretches my gut...

What if the law abiding citizen was the one being accosted by these hoods who accidently shot another in self defence ?

What if you were that bystander who got shot?

I support people being allowed to own firearms and defend themselves.

I don't support running gun battles in the streets though and no reputable study can prove that arming citizens will prevent crime or even lower it.

Why do people think that everyday citizens who carry a gun will suddenly become battle-tested sure-shot warriors? Even trained cops fire off entire clips at criminals and hit nothing.

There is every potential for the situation to become far worse then better when untrained citizens start blasting away on crowded subways.
