Did you read the article? The US is replacing theirs and wants Canada to do the same.
Correct me if I am wrong but it would be pretty tricky to sneak into a hospital and steal one ...

I did and the wording was that these devise were to be replaced by a committee. No action is ongoing.
Yes tricky is not the word and a fork-lift as well. Radiological detectors are currently proliferating throughout North America.

War begets war. They gonna ban metal worldwide because that can be used in bombs too? What about gunpowder? Dynamite? Heck they better rescind all gun laws since terrorists could break into houses and steal everyones private gun collections.

Who cares about getting it out? Just bring a bomb in and blow it up where it sits.

Transporting explosives is easier to conceal than transporting isotopes.
However a massive bomb would be required to disperse the isotopes beyond the facilitie's room----something on the order of the Oklahoma City bomb----difficult to sneak into a hospital.

Curiouser and curiouser.A microwave oven is probably more useful to a terrorist and yet there are billions of them kicking around with almost noone giving them a second thought.

America would be without doubt the most interfering warlike nation in modern history. When was the last time Canada ever upset anyone unless it was following America into some conflict that would only benefit American interests.

A U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission fact sheet on dirty bombs said most types would not release enough radiation to kill people or cause severe illness and that the conventional explosive itself would be more harmful to people than the radioactive material.

Bad news, there's enough bad materials out there to make tons of low-cost, easy-to-acquire dirty bombs. They should get over themselves, or pony up the dough for paying to replace them.
