One marine biologist says scientists are "stunned at the magnitude of the problem" and how fast it's developing.

Yeah right. They are stunned alright. The tip off was their attribution to GW.

The Colorado watershed is subject to the same cyclical precipitation patterns are the high plains.

Since the dust bowl years of the '30, the high plains has re experienced severe droughts. Better farm practices largely eliminated the effects.

The Hoover Dam, was constructed in the '30s as a major "make work" project, part of the new deal. It's construction was facilitated by the greatly reduced river flows of that era. At the time, critics denounced it as a white elephant and predicted lake Powell would take centuries to fill, even if the river was totally shut by the dam----but the rains came.........

Lake Powell is depleting, (remember the Polar Bears) this winter's record snowfalls in the Colorado watershed will change things TREEEEMENDOUS........

Remember after the Santa Anna fires, California nearly washed away.

As history shows there is uncertonty about things, like sasquash stated but still sasquash there is no way to tell that it will happen this time. It may, and it may not. If history and science taught us something, it would be that everything is unpredictable.

If you ask me, we shouldn't export any of our water to the US, ever, except if not doing it would actually put american citizens in danger of death. And that would be one extreme situation.

I already imagine horrible scenarios that could be associated with indifferent exportation of water.

GW after 10 years is now becoming history. Currently it is a recent event not a current event. Recent history has shown that not only GW is BS but reported anomolies, attributed to GW are also BS.

It probable the Lake Powell is just currently at an unusual annual low-----there is shit load of snow in the Coalorado Watershed this winter.

The big problem with this resource is that a major population centre has arisen in a desert. Las Vegas has grown by factors of 4+ since the 70's. Much like New Orleans this is a long existing problem with no input from a non-existant climate change.

Maybe it is a lesson to be learned.

I think we all take things for granted :(

I've heard this rumor, I've been to the Lake, and honestly I talked to workers at the dam, and its just hype. The Lake isn't going to run out. Btw its really fucking clear, I was surprised

Yeah I used to haul Aberfoyle(near Guelph) bottled water to the US, 44-46000 lb trailer loads all the time. Good business.......lots of employment........

    I don't have a problem with that---it's a trickle.

    44-46000 lb loads included pallets.
