Usually they just boot you out with a small fine if you don't have proper documentation.

There has to be more to the story than what is being told...

In a sworn statement, Itzhayek said he sent his driver into India to pick up money that had been wired to him. Indian officials stopped the driver at the border and seized some documents, including Itzhayek's passport and visa.

Uhmmm, you are on a business trip in Nepal. You have money wired to you... Why have that wired that to India, and not to Nepal? Why not get that yourself, instead of sending "a driver" to India, with YOUR passport?

I smell bullshit in this "sworn statement"...

it could be that the nearest town with wire transfer was in India..

but youre right, that doesnt make a lot of sense.

would you read my post again? they could have 1000, which is not too few in India, in case you don't know this, and they are having nothing instead, just troubles for the guy and more paperwork for selves! you know stories about Slovakia, you should know then what is the most important things for the guys on the border

Yes, the man is Jewish and he's being singled out for special harassment because he is a Jew from a country that won't do too much to upset the apple cart. Were he a Jew from Israel the Indians would not be doing this as they'd be risking a visit from the Mossad to come get their man.

The Mossad typically don't worry about their missions getting wet when the matter involves rescuing an Israeli.

Yep, Hindus hate Jews just as much as any Nazi ever did. It's not a fact you'll find on their tourism sites, but it is the case never the less.

no, they can ask for more.. he is big fat rich canadian and (as Bart said ) Jewish

businessman.. he has more than $1000. the article refers to 10 times that amount..

I believe a status of God's chose people doesn't give them special rights in terms of travelling without proper documents or being as stupid as to give their passports to almost strangers?
