More fuel was thrown on the fire regarding Steve Downie's sucker punch Wednesday, with Philadelphia Flyers Senior Vice President Bob Clarke holding the gas can.

Clarke is the same guy that broke a guys leg because he could skate with him in 1072. Clarke was a chicken shit retard that skated around and hacked people. Complete bozo. He was a great GM though, won all those cups and made the best player in the league at the time Lindros into a second liner because he thought he was soft.
Once and idiot always an idiot

hey you know what though, i wouldn't trade it for anything in the world..

we may not have won a cup since '75 and sadly it probably wont happen in the next few years but they will always be entertaining and always give us something to talk about...

and its ALWAYS better then being a leafs fan

I just lost all the respect for Clarke. Downie's just a shit disturber.

That's too true about hapless Leafs fans, but the Flyers aren't going to win the Cup with a team of thugs.

"Blake was a guy who had no problem going out and saying (Downie) should be suspended for life or suspended for the year," he explained, referring to Blake's reaction last September to the McAmmond incident. "When you say something that stupid, why shouldn't this kid go after him for it?"

Because if you allow the player to exact revenge on each other on ice for comments made off ice, you break down the walls separating the real world and the world of the game.

If it's Clarke's contention that Downie punched Blake fro something blake said off ice, then I think a charge of assault is warranted.

If one guy trash talks another on ice, and then gets hit on ice, that's just part of the game. If one guy makes a dirty hit on another than the other makes a retaliatory dirty hit on the first guy later, that's even kind of part of the game. But to make the violence of the game a cover for doing what you can't in real life is just wrong, and if that's what happened, then Downie should be in jail.
