    This is getting serious...

The state-owned People's Daily newspaper said in a tweet that no one would be allowed to leave the city starting at 10 a.m. and that train stations and the airport will shut down. It said that city buses, subways, ferries and long-distance shuttle buses would also be temporarily closed, citing Wuhan authorities.

It's new, so no one has immunity. It's airborne and human to human transmissible.

Important, but not that serious until we know the mortality rate.

Any pretense to stop and frisk and probe and swab and test and quarantine foreigners is good enough.

Agreed. I remember all the fear around SARS and then it turned out to be only slightly worse than the flu, which is still bad of course.

    Monitoring the roads now too.

And then imagine the government is admitting they are doing this right before Chinese New Year.

    Doesn't sound very positive.

    Interesting if true:

A deadly coronavirus, called the Wuhan virus based on the Chinese city it emanated from, has spread to the United States with a man in his 30s being declared patient zero in Washington state.

This comes years after it was announced that a controversial facility would be opened in Wuhan where Chinese scientists would study the worlds most dangerous pathogens.

    Right!?

17 people have died worldwide of this virus so far. More than 30 have died in Canada from the Flu so far this season.

Which one is making the headlines?

3 cities on lockdown, all CNY events in Beijing canceled, and it looks like 2 people just got hospitalized in the UK.

When was that direct flight from Wuhan arriving in Calgary ?

Canadian Flu doesn't sound as good as Chinese epidemic when the news people speak on TV.

The media is doing what the media does. Concentrates on the edge cases, while the larger problem is ignored.

(We actually have a flu vaccine, yet people still die from not taking it)
