so?? has anyone noticed we have one of the coldest climates of any of the G20 nations? and the largest land mass? so of course we use more in transportation and heating etc...that isn't going to change...
Believe it or not, you can heat your home with electricity instead of natural gas. And electric vehicles are getting to the point where in a couple years, they will be as good, or better than ICE vehicles, look at what's coming in 2021:
All pollute in some form or another.
What do we use to create that power? Coal? Hydro? Natural Gas? Fusion? Fission? Solar? Wind?

Ideally fusion, but until then, a mix of solar, wind, fission, and hydro would suffice. We can even use natural gas to wean ourselves off coal and oil in the short term (say the next 20 years), but we cannot keep burning fossil fuels indefinitely.
I know we're not going to switch over tomorrow (or even in the next decade), but the longer we wait, the higher the cost our society will pay (in terms of disasters and suffering).
Okay I'm not trying to be funny with this. Didn't you do the carbon tax to make sure something like this didn't happen?

You never know. In Alberta, everyone cries that the Oil industry is failing, but the renewable energy industry is the only one with growth.

If we actually keep going with a carbon tax/levy, then it's certainly possible for us to improve. However, if Canada takes a step backwards like Alberta did (which cancelled its levy), then we'll likely still be the worst.

Seriously though, Alberta's levy supported new transit projects (EV buses, LRT, etc.), adding solar panels to sports facilities, transitioning to LED lights from incandescent, etc. This article gives you some idea of what it funded:
