To be clear: Iranians were the first to get fireboats on the scene to put out the fires onboard the ships and the Iranians sent rescue boats to rescue both crews...one of which was Japanese and the Japanese PM was in Iran at the time.

Why would they attack ships and then immediately rush out to help?

It is important to remember these attacks are sophisticated and this isn't the first time such attacks have happened.

So if it isn't Iran who's responsible, who is it? And what do you do about it once you know for sure who's doing it. Depends who it is, maybe?

Attaching limpet mines at the water line to a massive and slow moving ship is not that sophisticated.

It takes a RHIB with a steady hand on the wheel and a couple strong guys to heave a magnetic or better yet a sticky mine onto the ship's hull.

It's very low tech and the Iranians are generally very low tech.

But if they did this then why did the Iranians turn around and go to great lengths to rescue the crews and put out the fires?

    That's not how they roll.

The Yemeni Shias are now lobbing cruise missiles they got from Iran at the Saudis and apparently getting some good strikes in with them. As such this thing with the tankers is probably a Saudi false-flag operation designed to accelerate the inevitable American attack on Iran. The Saudis can't afford to look like losers if the Yemenis chase them out of their country so it's in the Arabs best interest to drag the US into something much bigger in order to derail any potential Yemeni/Iranian victory. Saudi prestige would never recover from such a defeat. Not that the current American regime would mind another major Muslim war, considering that their policy in the area is now being dictated by a psycho like John Bolton.

Apparently the USS Bainbridge has video of the Iranians removing a mine from one of the Tankers... This might actually kick off. Shit.

Im not sure the Saudis are bright enough for false flag ops. Iran probably did this. Anyway, on the bright side, it might be good for oil prices.
