"A Manhattan straphanger who claimed to have been attacked by two men yelling gay slurs was actually the one doing the attacking, according to police.

Cops say the 25-year-old, who has not been identified, set upon the two men at the Chambers St. station in Tribeca while on an uptown A train.

They had gotten into a verbal altercation before things got physical, the young man originally alleged.

Police interviewed multiple people, however, who witnessed the incident and said the straphanger was the aggressor. Video obtained by police allegedly shows him spitting at subway riders when the suspects-turned-victims step in and try to stop him.

Cops believe the man was drunk and that no gay slurs were ever made. He suffered a laceration to his head while being subdued, according to officials.

Police don't plan to file any charges."

I'm not trying to be to much of a jackass on this but dam if you supported them on the cake issue and marriage issues you dam best be screaming now on the issue of hit this guy with the severest punishment the law can provide. Want equal rights then demand equal punishment for things like this also.

Who was claiming this guy shouldn't be punished?

And where are all the calls for punishment for the hundreds of actual cases of homophobic and racists attacks?

Good news! Canadian Tire is having a sale on Tiki-torches! You guys should stock up.

I speak out as often as I can when I see those articles as you mention. Generally saying the person SHOULD get punished many times more or harsher punishment than what is given. I'm thinking in this case along the lines of false police report at the minimum should be charged against this person.

You may, but it's rare any of the other posters in this thread do. Instead, they will use this one false report to reinforce their own biases that these reports are 'generally false' and ignore the hundreds of other incidents that are not.

And yes, odds are that a false police report and assault charges are on the way for this guy.

I can see this part also but might be dropped by the DA. Sounds like this guy got his ass seriously kicked. A jury might look at the guys injuries and think if he committed assault what the heck did the guys protecting themselves do?

Actually, I've been a victim of a very violent crime. So violent I actually received $20k from the provincial government (CICB) in a time when many were getting only 1 or 2k.

I digress. False allegations like this only make it harder for actual victims to be believed when they are assaulted.

The Crown looks at things quite differently than a D.A. might. Even if he got his ass kicked, he instigated. The other guys were defending themselves, a right in Canada.

You start a fight, you lose a fight... what do you tell others? That you were attacked and you give a good reason for the attack.

I once refused a loan to a black customer (because his credit rating was horrible) and he accused me of racism. Probably told all his friends the same story. I'm sure he only accused me of that because he thought he'd shame me into accepting the loan... didn't work.

I scanned through these comments pretty quick but did my eyes see what they thought they saw?

Was some clown actually suggesting people are jumping to conclusions based on
    'ONE CASE?"

He had to have been joking. Very well...in that spirit then:

I'm trying to be green so for my torches I use naturally fallen sticks wrapped with natural fiber rags that are then soaked in renewable canola oil which burns with a pleasing glow.

Tiki-torches contribute to global warming and there's at least 1.1Kg of ice that disappeared from the Arctic last year due to Llama's use of Tiki-torches.
