So the left will also try to kick off a civil war in Brazil.

    More fun incoming.

On the losing side, the reaction was despair - and a defiant vow to resist.

The defeated Haddad vowed to 'defend freedoms' of the president-elect's opponents and the 45 million people who voted for him.

Aides also said that Mr Haddad had not called Bolsonaro to congratulate him.

    Sounds like Hillary.

The left has been collapsing Brazil for quite some time and the bankrupting of Brazil for the Olympics and the World Cup along with the outright theft of private property to make way for those projects alienated the people from their leftist overlords.

It's time for a change and I'm happy for Brazil that they're joining the ranks of the nations who are rejecting the failed philosophies of Marxism. R=UP

I am looking forward to the return of the Military Junta and the inevitable return of the death squads to the Favelas. Those poor people have had it too good for too long, and who needs due process? fuck that, let the military dole out the justice, they'll be fair. I've never heard of a single government run by the military where it wasn't fair. In the 1970's the President of Argentina even gave the people helicopter tours of the Andes. Truly a man of the people. (fine lots of hyperbole, but the point is the people will suffer because of this man...)

The left seriously fucked up over the past few years and now the people are going in a different direction. Part of what's impacting them is their proximity to the failed socialist state of Venezuela and the daily reports of thousands of Venezuelans trying to get into Brazil.

Regardless, an election has taken place, the people have spoken, and the left needs to respect the fact that they lost.

The poor people have been FUCKED OVER in Brazil the past few years.

In both cases with the Olympics and the World Cup poor people were literally thrown out of their homes before they were bulldozed to make way for billion dollar stadiums that, in one case, were used just twice before they were torn down.

The Olympics venues were partially finished and poorly constructed and almost all of them have either fallen into disrepair or they've been scavenged and rendered useless.

The poor people who lost their homes so connected politicians could make millions are pissed and they expressed their rage at the ballot box. The elites did NOT vote for the right wing party and this incarnation of the right will not alienate their base by terrorizing the favelas.

So maybe I'm wrong and nothing will change.

The only thing that would ever fix a lurching disaster of a zombie-country like Brazil would be an asteroid providing a rather traumatic enema. This new rightist yahoo won't be any more successful than any of the other corrupt clods they've had in power for their entire history.
