Cooler weather and progress by fire crews has led to the B.C. government ending the state of emergency covering the entire province Friday. As of Friday morning, the province said, there were still 485 active wildfires in B.C.
They also lifted our local campfire ban a couple of days ago. However, though OPEN campfires are allowed, mesh-enclosed Chimeras are still on the banned list. Sheesh.
Kind of a lost summer. When it finally warmed up and stopped raining, everything burned. Now it's back to drizzling and a balmy 12 degrees. But pretty much everyone's back to work today.
