If that's 'stand your ground' there's a problem with the law.
Florida police believe shooting was legally justified by "stand your ground" state law!
This is exactly why Canadian gun laws shouldnt be relaxed. The guy who got shot was clearly in the wrong: the shoving was totally unnecessary as was the illegal parking in the first place. But the point is illegal parking and shoving is not supposed to be a death penalty offence. In Canada the guy who got pushed to the ground might have gotten up and cleaned that guys clock or maybe walked away but nobody would have died over a parking space
I wouldn't worry about anything like concealed carry or open carry ever being legalized by any Canadian government. Having the glaring example next door to us of what a rotten idea it is to let perpetually pissed-off troublemakers legally toting weapons around probably's been more than enough to convince those of us with some functioning brain cells still that encouraging this kind of macho bullshit is not a very wise thing to do. I'd be much more interested in relaxing self-defense rules for people in the rural areas so they don't end up with bogus charges being levelled against them when they have to shoot at some rampaging meth-heads to protect their homes, but that's light-years away from the way the Americans do things by letting every George Zimmermann sort of freak in the entire country legally carry and go around picking fights because their gun makes them feel like tough guys. Pretty sure that practically all of them are total pussies without a gun on their belt so that shows you all you need about the sort of personalities that push this sort of thing.
