Holding signs calling for equality and Canadian flags, members of Reginas Asian community gathered at Victoria Park on Sunday afternoon to demand an apology from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Wasn't the act of cutting off a hijab what was condemned? Not Asians? This seems like "fake news" to me.

Zhou, and others gathered, took issue with the response to a Toronto girl's claim earlier this month that an Asian man cut her hijab.

They appear to be objecting to the blanket designation of "Asian" in the media.

    For example here's the Star:

When her attacker pulled her hood down, she said he cut her hijab from the bottom up. Terrified, she turned to face him a young Asian male, roughly 5-foot-8 to six feet tall, wearing black pants, a black hoodie and brown gloves. He had a moustache, the girl told police, and glasses, too. He was smiling at her.

I'm guessing Zhou and the others don't view themselves as the sort of "Asians" that we're being fingered as the perp, and yet they were being asked to bear the cross. So to speak.

Good for them. Wait until more and more groups start to protest PM Socks and the crap he spews. Trudeau is detrimental to Canadian values and society, only he doesn't see it that way, because he only looks at the small picture, which would be his massive collection of selfies.

Some people just have too much time on their hands. Really this is what you protest about?

Well at least they are concerned about events actually happening in Canada. They are not spending their entire existence bitching about Trump and the GOP. So there is that.

Only in this instance, Trump actually carries a ton more potential negative effect on Canada than the newspaper using the term "Asian" to describe an actual Asian.

Yeah, he might say something and insensitive to the soy boy you folks have as a PM.

If that happens then poor little Justine might have to run off to her safe space and cry.

Yes, because being a vulgar cretin is the most obvious sign of genuine "toughness". Trudeau should just reach across the table and punch Trump in the mouth as fucking hard as he did to Patrick Brazeau. He'd immediately become the most popular head of government across the entire planet.

He's more of a fighter actually. As that Conservative Senator belatedly discovered in the boxing ring.

The US has made mistaken Canada's gentility for weakness before. Just because we're not bellying around the room like a drunken asshole doesn't mean we aren't strong.

Speaking of snowflakes having their feelings hurt by big meanies Trump won't visit UK unless May makes sure everyone is nice to him.

President Donald Trump reportedly told British Prime Minister Theresa May last year that he would not be visiting the United Kingdom unless she could promise a warm welcome, according to a Bloomberg report on Wednesday morning.

He also complained about how he is covered by British media outlets.

If Trump the Traitorous does go to the UK I hope everyone lining the route his motorcade takes moons him and or brings an egg and overripe piece of fruit. Police can't or won't arrest thousands. But they have to make it clear that they are against the POS, not the United States of America. After all, it wasn't the American people who put him in the White House.   nudge nudge

I'd expect the protests to be so bad that the motorcade wouldn't even get out of Heathrow, or whatever air base they land at.

No, the fact that your governments (Conservative and Liberal, to be fair) have in measure disarmed your military through deliberate and mindless neglect means you're not strong.

Keep in mind that I am the person who for all of my time on this site has advocated for a strong Canada lest the US someday do to you what Russia did to Ukraine.

When called upon we've showed up and distinguished ourselves. Every time. The US has no reason to invade Canada, since we are essentially a satellite state to their empire, decaying though it is. Why take by force what you already own? It's a thoroughly stupid proposition, unless the only thing you can understand is making others do your bidding at the end of a gun. Russian incursions into the north are a more likely sovereign threat.

It also bears keeping in mind that part of the unwritten rules of a satellite state to an empire is not to have a military good enough to challenge it.

I agree. But someday there may come a time when a US political party decides that invading and occupying Canada will score them points in an election.

At which point stupidity will reign.

And I have never said that you need a military capable of taking on the US...just one substantial enough that the US would consider it too costly to take on Canada.
