And here I thought the story was about BC Ferry Corp's plan to shut down their food services or at least to start serving REAL food on the boats!

Maybe cuz they weren't really eggs ? PDT_Armataz_01_32

Newspaper, coffee at the terminal.. and nothing more, better to starve
than to eat the ferry garbage.

Best crossing I ever had was when I borrowed a copy of the newer Chilton book,
2nd wealthy barber. Some random guy had it his lap, So I asked to borrow it
and sped read the thing in 90minutes. Never even went for a smoke. :)

Actually the best best crossing I ever had was renting a private cabin with the gf
    at the time.

I miss going into the dining room on BC Ferries when it was replete with white table cloths, flowers, silver cutlery and those strange things called waiters. I also miss getting a stateroom and ordering copious amounts of beer while enjoying a thick rare steak ordered up from that same Dining room.

Now you're lucky if you can get a greasy Whitespot Burger, a few frozen fries and a dirty seat with the other unwashed masses all the while enjoying BC Ferries new and improved traveling experience. .

How times have changed and not for the better.

Amen once again, I remember back in the 70's and 80's when I was making multiple crossings and getting paid for it, back and forth to different job sites, anywhere from Victoria to Pt Hardy / Pt McNeil. The food was actually pretty good back then, even with no stateroom or gf or beer, unless it was stashed in your vehicle.

I remember when Lisa and I took our first ferry ride from Tsawassen to Swartz Bay back in 1994. We decided to risk the cafeteria food on the ship and then we were amazed when it was the best meal of our entire trip!

Sad to see how things have "improved". :|

Given the incessant reports of bad service on the ferries it'd probably be much safer to bring your own food or live off the vending machines than to trust anything some kiosk on the boats are cooking. E-coli and salmonella, free with every ferry ride? No thanks. 8O

On a trip we just did in July from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay we decided to get a bite in the cafeteria on the way over. Food was ok, certainly not like eating at an actual White Spot, but way overpriced for the small portions. On the way back we stopped at the Smitty's in Sidney on the way to the ferry and had an awesome breakfast so we didn't need to bother with anything on the ferry.

Last ferry trip I took was Port au Basques N&L t Halifax. Quite a journey but the cafeteria was closed. Ate leftover pizza. Had to go outside stand in a birdcage to smoke, but they didn't ban it totally like idiots who run BC Ferries.

Used to commute weekly to work in Courtenay-Comox 1988. Eat at home on the way there, stop for an Oyster burger & Ricards Red on the way back. Cancelled out trip to the Island a couple summers ago, massive windstorm and power outages that weekend. ferries cancelled.
The White Spot remark is real. everytime I go to Prince George I ask the girls to pick where they like to eat. 99% of the time they haven't decided after the 2 hour dirve, so I just pull in to White Spot, order a DOuble Double and hope they can pick something they like. And YAY now there's a TripleO in PG too, and WhiteSpot reopened in Terrace.
