Witnesses described a chaotic scene resembling a "war zone" as passengers scrambled to get to safety.
Couldn't people just describe it as a train wreck? Why do people always have to call things what they are not?

People understand things relative to things they already understand. So for those who have never experienced a train wreck they seek some frame of reference with which to better comprehend and accept what's happened to them.

Exactly, but saying the train wreck was like a train wreck is a bit silly. Saying it was utter devastation outside my realm of experience would have been more accurate. Get the analogy police on those folks right away.

Just found out a friend of mine and his wife were on board. He has some minor cuts and bruises but his wife has a huge laundry list of injuries, the worst being a fractured vertabrae and a punctured lung.

Waiting for an update. Their daughter is beside herself as she paid for the train and hotel package for them as a valentines Day gift.
