Why so shocked...The US had Tim McVeigh and Co. Rabin was also murdered by an Israeli terrorist. Hell, even Canada had the FLQ and the Mohawk Warriors, although they are more of a criminal organization than an actual terrorist group. There was also the Branch Davidian thing in Waco and Ruby Ridge. Lots of crazies everywhere.

$1:
The activists entered the base, damaged property, set tires on fire, threw stones and damaged vehicles according to a statement released by the IDF.

The right-wing extremists also tried to attack the commander of the area, Colonel Ran Kahana, by throwing stones at his vehicle.

It actually sounds more like a protest that got rowdy, rather than a 'terrorist' attack.

According to reports in the Israeli press, the attack came in response to rumors that Israeli security forces were about to demolish two illegal outposts in the West Bank -- Mitzpe Yitzhar and Ramat Gilad. Peace Now, a settlement watchdog, petitioned the Israeli High court regarding six illegal settlements erected in the West Bank.

The State of Israel responded to the petition saying the outposts that were built on state land will be legalized and the ones built on private land will be dismantled by the state by the end of 2011. Both Mitzpe Yitzhar and Ramat Gilad were built on private land and are therefore slated to be demolished.

Nope, that's terrorism.

Damn, I hope the IDF pays their troops extremely well because I don't think patriotism alone is enough to put up with all the crap they have to endure.

@ Cartman:
Maybe when you have a clue as to what's going on over there you'll be qualified to give an opinion.

Using Curtmans reasoning almost every protest in North America is a terrorist attack.

I agree, it sounds like a riot. Unless we're going to start calling everybody involved in riots in North America terrorists (like the G20, the Vancouver Stanley Cup riot, etc), it seems to be a bit of a stretch.

I've heard of attacks by extremist Jewish groups; the attacks are very rare though.

Why not? Maybe not the Stanley cup, that's just stupidity. But when peaceful political protest stops being peaceful, its terrorism.

It's a violent protest. We have those here too.

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
There was also the Branch Davidian thing in Waco and Ruby Ridge.

1. The Branch Davidians were weird, no argument there. But they were not terrorists and there's not a scintilla of evidence that they ever planned a terrorist attack. The accusations that they had anti-tank weapons and full automatic weapons were wholly unfounded and no such weapons were found in the debris of their manor house. Logically, if they'd had anti-tank weapons you'd think they'd have used them on the tanks that the ATF used to murder them.

2. Randy Weaver was a white separatist who lived separately. Last I checked people are free to do that kind of thing. The crime that he was initially accused of, shortening a shotgun barrel to a less-than-legal length ended up being dismissed when the Federal prosecutor admitted in court that the barrel was, indeed, within legal norms. Weaver ended up settling with the Federal government for $3.5 million in the wrongful deaths of his wife and teenage son. The FBI shooter who carried out an illegal shoot-to-kill order on the unarmed Vicki Weaver, Lon Horiuchi, is still subject to an open warrant for first degree murder in Idaho. Curiously, Horiuchi is also suspect in the offsite murders of Branch Davidians who were shot as they tried to escape the burning manor house.

Why not the Stanley Cup? They attacked police officers, they set fire to vehicles, damaged stores and businesses, brutally attacked individuals, etc. If political protests turned violent are terrorism, why not the Stanley Cup riot?

And Andy, happily playing the role of an over ripe dingleberry, tries to compare the actions of professional criminals(aka Black Bloc) to a violent protest by people(some of whom are admittedly radical Jews) angered over the Israeli government dismantling their communities.
