I so called this, I knew the government would lower the HST before an election, or this case the referendum. I only expected it to go down 1% though.

I am happy with this, I don't think BC should roll back the HST, I hope this will be enough to appease enough opponents. I'm pretty happy with a 10% sales tax across the board. We will be much lower than Ontario's 13%

Agreed. All my ire was mostly aimed at implimentation and outright bald faced sonofabitch lying to get us here! Dropping it to 10% will likely gain my vote.

Not a bad idea. Mind you, I'd be happy if it stayed at 12% as long as the GST exemptions were brought back.

It still pisses me off no end. They lied about talking with Ottawa before implementing it, they lied about it being a neutral tax and they lied to us about how all businesses would drop their prices when it came into effect and pass those savings on to us.

Everything they've told us about the HST has been fucking lies, so why should we expect anything different from this announcement, since most of Campbells old cronies are still shot calling?

But, I will say one thing though, given the hike in corporate taxes, which we will undoubtedly pay for in some way, it appears that the old Campbell Socred fiscal philosophy in the Liberal Party has been pushed out by a real left wing Liberal who figures the only way she can stay in power is to out NDP the NDP.

Oh please. Did you really buy it when we were told almost the same thing when the GST was first introduced?
It sure didn't take a Master's or Bachelor's degree to figure out that businesses would just add the difference to their bottom line and as usual, fuck the consumer over.
I'm not saying you're one of these people but, anyone that believed that line has a level of naivete that's almost adorable

Christy the Commie. Cut HST, raise corporate taxes.
The BC Conservatives will love this, so will the NDP.
Cut the fucking income taxes and keep the damned HST

I almost believe politicians about as much as I do some posters on this forum.

But for the record I don't believe we ever get a break from any level of Goverment when it comes to money, so why the fuck should this HST cut be any different, yet there are people applauding it and thinking they're not gonna end up paying for it in some way shape or form.

HST, GST, PST, all the same legalized form of rape or as the media darlings would like us to belive, a consumption tax that if you don't want to pay you just don't buy frivolous things like, clothing, cars, fuel, houses, pets supplies food or medicine, some medical supplies, electricity, landlines, any form of entertainment or food you don't cook yourself.

Consumption taxes are like hemmoroids. Once you've get em you can't get rid of them and they're a constant pain in the ass.

You should see the comments on the cbc article, no way the HST will stay based on that. This is all going on emotion and not sound policy. Christy better run to the front of this mob and nix the HST now and look like a leader if she wants to keep her job.
