100% Correct.

I would much much rather deal with any problems associated with Albertan oil rather than deal with the Saudi's and the Iranians.

I love the use of the term "dirty oil". Is there any oil extraction process that can be considered clean?
Personally, I think Canada should start using the same terminology for our oil as we do our diamonds...BLOOD FREE!

I oppose this because I just don't cotton to the idea of American dollars supporting extreme and fundamentalist Canadians.

That's one dangerous and radical lot right there.

I like it PA9! Weren't some Yank petrol stations, I mean gas stations advertising 'terror free gas' or 'Non-Jihadi gas' at one time?

We could tone it down a tad and call it something more Canadian.

Sure, Saudi oil is cleaner to get out of the ground and cleaner to refine. But by the time you ship it to North America, I'm not sure how much cleaner it is.

Let's call it Freedom Oil, that will get the 'Mericuns lining up at the pump.

I'm reading a fairly good book on the topic by Ezra Levant (I'm as shocked as the next person) called Ethical Oil.

He suggests that while other oil may be cleaner than tar sands oil, most of it is much less ethical, considering that most nations that export large amounts of it are a rather unsavoury group (Russia, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Sudan, etc).

'The Mericuns' are going to line up at the pumps regardless of where the gasoline comes from. For the most part, they really don't give a shit about the origins.
It's a few wingnuts looking for their '15 minutes' and also any 'self respecting' politician ( now there's a contradiction in terms!)
Pols are jumping on the 'dirty oil bandwagon' because 'being seen to be doing something = votes= remaining in office=gluttonous salary, perks golden pension etc. As long as we can supply, they will buy!

Freedom Oil does have a nice Yank ring to it and we are selling most of it to them.

I can't believe we can't beat despots like Saudi or Iran in a PR battle.

Why are all these enviro-nazis targetting us when they have facist-theocracies shipping oil halfway across the planet (as andy said, carbon footprint and all that)?

Because it's not pc to point out those fascist-theocracies. But I think I've got a winner with freedom oil, I should market that. And Boot's Ethical Oil is good too - aimed more at the urbanites than suburbanites. "No clits were cut off to produce this oil."

OTOH, the enviro-nazis have the First Nations on their side. That's some powerful pr wampum right there, get them dressed up and drumming about loss of traditional lands. Nobody can withstand that.

Give the FNs a cut of the profits and I bet they'd shut up real quick.

With the FN's ability to manage resources least of all themselves, maybe that cookie will crumble before their drink of milk. On the other hand, the BC FN's do manage resources with good partnerships. Not saying it absolutely can't be done.
