Ottawa is not Tehran, Kenya Iraq. I agree that somekind of strong barrier is a good idea, but this is a bit ugly in more than one way.

There has to be something better.

Are these barriers on embassy property or on public property?

Public.

They take up a lane. I have no problem with it myself.

BTW the two white bins are temporary, I just noticed the bins in the picture it does looks unsightly. But what they are actually complaining about and have been complaining about for some time is the small 4' concrete barrier below the bins, taking up a small stretch of lane.

I've got a problem with this. Why did it take 8 years before a complaint was lodged about the barriers? Were they prettier before, or, did they just one day suddenly turn ugly and start interfering with traffic and the market.

As for them being heavy and ugly, we'll unfortunately that's a byproduct of concrete and if they wanted pretty flowery things they should have had them plant armoured plated trees back in 01.

It's amazing that Ottawa City council doesn't have more pressing matters to attend to, than this.

Gee with Canada's open door policy on immigration, and allowing bacially anyone into our country who claims refugee status we might as well be Tehran, Kenya or Iraq.

A terrorist attack in Canada is just a matter of time.

They've been complaining since the beggining, everyonce and awhile its reported.
It's usually the same suspects on the looning left of city council that does the complaining.

The place is built like fort knox, but if additional barriers deter would be nut jobs from trying anything. I have no problem with it. I believe these went up shortly after 911. If it makes them feel a little safer in Ottawa I have no problem with it.

Obviously Geroge Bédard has a problem with it.
