knee jerk reaction is "fuck that." But then I figured why not let him stay in, fellow members of his regiment will never let up on him for it.

Also, what's up with his escorts uniforms? One has a checkered tie, which could possibly be a regimental thing, but I doubt it. The other is missing his little "Canada" shoulder patch. wtf gives?

This POS DOES NOT under any circumstance deserve to stay in. Lets remeber that if hes kicked out it also mean he will be unable to get any federal job EVER. Plus the loss of benfits and the fact that he wants to stay in. He made the choice so now he needs to pay the time. Also, Michael Drapeau can rot in hell, you would think that CTV would find a different "Expert" by now.

I know there are a number of Military guys on this forum. Interesting question then, would you be ok with him being allowed to stay in. A lot of silly stuff goes on in war zones. To the average Joe at home it might seem wrong or stupid but in theater, in sub-culture there, it's normal or acceptable, a way of stress release and what not.

Not knowing "The way things are" over there among the guys in private I'm interested to know their thoughts.

This article is full of heartbreaking stories how this all affected the families, very sad indeed, but...
WHY did he shoot his tentmate? The one line in the story about it does not really cut it for me... :?

Anybody who knows more care to explain?

I don't know how reservist units work but if he was coming to my unnit, he would be better off in prison.

I hate how it works with sending reservists over seas anyways, I know plenty of guys who didn't get a spot on tour because some fucking weekend warrior wanted to play soldier. I haven't met one reservist who is good at his job and I know a lot of good soldiers whos place was taken by these tards. They should be exactly what they are called, reserves.

If he stays in he'll be a pariah in pretty much every LFC unit. He may be able to escape it somewhat if he went Navy or Air Force.

CM: The missing flash is interesting. Did you note the poor fit? I wonder if someone got caught without a proper tunic and tried to substitute. Another damn ragbag?

Wow nice to know back in the day I was a F#$k up and wasting everyones time in the reserves. Anyhow, not gonna bite on that one.

I do agree though that both in the US and Canada the reason for reserves has been lost somewhere. It makes no sense to me why they would send the "back up" players in when the main players are wanting spots.

Smacle has is own bias against reservists, so I wouldnt take what he says as the gospel.

He says he felt threatened and shot without looking because of his training, which is bullshit. What I heard happened when this story broke was that he was playing quickdraw, fired a round, and it hit someone else. In either case he should see jail time.

He shouldnt stay in, he would be an idiot to want to.

The reservists I served with did just as well as us.

This case is now routinely cited for why we shouldn't play quick draw at my unit. Nothing official, but it's a big hint. I'm sure that somewhere the exact actions that occurred from which the charges are based off of will be available somewhere... someday.

Sapper - I was looking at the poor fit, then I saw his size, and though maybe he had lost some weight? In which case Kudos, now fix your fucking uniform. Still don't understand whats up with the checkered flag on the other guy.

Smacle, let up on the reservists. The ratio of shit-pumps to hard workers is about the same in either trade. Just that shit pump reg force members are usually locked away in broom closets like the regimental canteen or QM, whereas the numbers are to small in reserve units to basically toss out the trash or sweep it under a rug.

Like I said above, my first reaction was to not let him stay in, but I'd love to see the hell he has to go through if he does.

Hopefully you're applying the ignorant bias to Army Reserves only and not to reserves in general (which is a telling point regardless).

Being a Naval reservist working full time for the last 12 years and mostly full time for three years before that and spending the last nearly ten years at sea, I'd like to think that lumbering brain sieves with attitudes like that are on their way out of the modern military.

I doubt that. News travels fast anywhere in the Military. Example: There was an incident in Halifax that happened one night and by the next morning the entire West Coast Fleet new about it.

So even if they do retain this asswipe, and remuster him to another service, life as he knew it is over.

Here's a question for all you lower deck lawyers. When I was in, if we had anyone sentenced to over two years, they we're automatically sent to a Federal Prison and we discharged them poste haste, before they even got to sent up.

Now it would appear that the Military has the option of keeping them and if they do keep them how is their time in jail assessed. I'm assuming that it'd work the same as doing 14 days only longer, very much longer.

Am I correct in making these assumptions.
