In spite of him being a jerk and speeding wayyy over the limit, the improper hand signal will probably be dropped. It's called freedom of expression.
As far as respect goes, sometimes it needs to be earned. Allow me to relate something that happened a while ago. The police were at my house one day asking about an occurrence that happened across the street. (I was not involved in it)
Anyway, after getting my name he kept referring to me by my first name. So in response, I referred to him by HIS given name. This pissed him right off and he promptly informed me his name was "Constable Clements"!! I told him as long as he was going to call me by name, I would return the favour. He actually gave up asking about the incident he came for and stomped off to his cruiser. It was pretty funny in a pathetic way.
Do you think the officer might have forgotten your last name while gathering the details?
Would you have remembered his if it wasn't pinned to his shirt
