Shouldn't be surprised. I wonder how much trouble they'll get into for trying to form it?

Good for the people of Ontario. Embarassing that it took so long though.

While I think good for them on standing up for what they believe in, I can't help but think this is just a disaster waiting to happen. Instead of 1 militant group there will be 2 and it's only a matter of time until tensions escelate to the point where further violence erupts

This will Fail miserably. Vigilantiism has no place in a Modern Society.

Apparently they have never heard the saying, "two wrongs don't make a right."

The people of Caledonia have been left out in the cold by the OPP and the Ontario government. I see how they have little choice. If I was them I'd stop paying taxes as well.

Compare the 2 groups, then say that it "works" for the Natives.

The idea of the Caledonia Militia is not new, but the recent erection of a cigarette shack on the property of a local resident gave it life, Mr. Fleming said.
How does the erection of a cigarette shack lead to people wanting to start a militia?

I'm sorry, it's hard to feel sorry for the Mohawks who have thumbed their collective noses at our laws and got away with it.
There is a new sub-division and a school right in the area of most Mohawk activity. This sub division is made up mostly of young families with young children. They have no hope of selling their houses and moving as they are worth nothing and who in their right mind would move in next door to a Mohawk protest?
Imagine the lives these people are living?
They have no recourse to the law like the Mohawks, nobody is listening to them, there are no sympathetic programs on the CBC and nobody waxes lyrical about their own, very small land claims to live in peace on the little semi-detached house they bought as their first home.
There are two sides to this story too.
Nobody wants to hear about the working class families paying taxes and living in fear of the Mohawks, in a sub-division that the OPP fear to tread in.

It took me a while, but if somebody was erecting shacks and such on my front yard...that would piss me off.

so much for private property rights.
That 'militia' should plan to arm themselves, they will need it.
