You know what, fuck the animal rights groups...when I was a kid the first kill I made, animal, the rite of passage was to eat part of the heart from the animal. that was our way of taking a piece of the animal with us...it was an honour to be able to be fed by that animal.

I still take a piece of the heart of moose and deer when I take it down...its a tradition. When I land a Salmon I slice a piece off and eat it I also do a tobacco ceremony as well. I have choice words for SOME animal rights activists, but I am in a passive mood.

I hunted as a young kid with my Dad and what we hunted we ate.. it was a matter of putting food on the table.. I have never or will never trophy hunt.. thats for assholesd who have too much money and can spend 100.000.00 on a big horn hunt.. Now the only hunting I do is hunt for specials at Safe way...But I do support the right to hunt for food and as a traditional activity..

the only animals I killed without intending to eat were gophers. The blooding ritual isn'r just something first nations do either. After I bagged my first elk, at 13, I had to drink some of its blood(about a cup worth)....My uncle told me at least I didn't puke like my dad did when he had to do it.

I smoked a deer with my company truck a couple of years back. I stuck around for about ten minutes and it died PDQ in the ditch. I was surprised more that I didn't get all upset about it, but then again it's not like I hit someone's dog or cat or something. Hitting a dog would end up bothering me for a long time afterwards. I got more pissed off that the dick foreman I reported to was more worried about the condition of the truck than if anyone had gotten hurt. But that's rural redneck Alberta for you, where human life is regarded as worth less than the cost having to get a couple of dents on some POS F350 hammered out.
