I say that we take Parliament Hill by storm and implement me as the new malovolent dictator.

What are your qualifications?

Filled with juvenile anger?

Stephen Harper's got that one covered in spades.

$1:
Gr. 11 education?

Maybe you could fill a cabinet position.

Story reminds me of the Republican whining and character assassination when Obama snubbed the US media for al Jazeera.

I can understand doing that. The US media is braindead, and America has some relations to repair.

This on the other hand, is just an excuse for the Prime Minister to run away from a serious problem that needs to be addressed. I wonder what all those who fell in line with the anti-Stephane Dion "not a leader" campaign have to say for themselves now. The irony is painful.

I think it's a good think with the shadow of protectionism to get closer and more friendly with the U.S. They must see us like one of them, not people stealing their jobs.

Proculation Proculation:
I understand all that but everytime there's a financial crisis, protectionism and "patriotism" can become a major issue. And when it starts it's a downward spiral to a bigger lasting depression. Yes we have NAFTA and WTO but if the USA want to do it their way, they will do it. There are some protectionnist clauses written in Obama bills. Politics in a financial crisis = very bad. Government and economy just don't go together and should be totally separated to protect the economy from politics.

That would be a great idea if politics were confined to government. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Politics is the ebb and flow of the human condition.

It will be Harper's second interview with both Fox and CNN in a month. He has not granted an interview to The Canadian Press, Canada's national news service, since December 2007.

That's disgraceful. How is it that we keep electing a Prime Minister that hates his own country so much?

Enough is enough. People in the U.S. don't care about the Canadian prime minister. He ought to be using his time and our money more wisely. He'll have a chance to dazzle the international spotlight at the G-20.

He is in the US promoting Canada, remember, our largest trading partner?

Well, let's be honest. His presence at 24 Sussex hasn't been with what you'd call an unfettered, ringing endorsement and mandate from the majority of the population of the country.......either time despite him putting a couple of rounds into his own foot by yanking on the trigger all by his lonesome last time out.

I agree, he should come home and wave his magic wand, that will cure all the problems of the world economy . XD

wouldn't that cure the serious problem :P

Oh great! A Harper clone.

Hardly, I'm a Socialist. Some go far as to claim I'm Communist.

I was, too, at your age. :)

Whaaa... The Canadian press is all upset that Harper has excaped their interrogations. They can't smear him with "gotcha" questions about religion or what kind of fruit he would be. I'm sure the CBC has a bus load of all 800 ex-employees who all want to get a kick at him.

It's a smart move and one that will raise Canada in international vision. International news has recognised that Canada is one of the best off, going into this recession and we in the best shape comming out. With a wealth of natural resources and a secure trade position, we are well set to move.
.. but all you hear from the Canadian media is doom and gloom because their too busy playing politics.

Small town cheap. That's all it is.

.. and maybe if the Prime Minister of the country goes on the network and informs their people about what we're actually doing in Afghanistan, we would have less of the ignorant hicks that we saw on the "Red Eye".

The CBC Febuary 2009:

Maybe the Canadian Press thinks it's Canada's one and only news service but it isn't.
....and because The Canadian Press (not the entire Canadian press/media, just one outlet) hasn't gotten what they think they deserve i guess that means Harper Hates Canada.

I don't think it's that smart a move by Harper. Pissing off the media is bad politics. The Conservatives under Harper have never figured this out though. They just can't hide their fear and loathing of the media, and then they wonder why it ends up biting them in the butt time and again.

This story is a perfect example. I'd never heard of it earlier this week. Now I've heard read it, heard it on the radio and seen it on the TV news. Would have been so easy to make this one go away.
