Why is the media dragging the man's religion into this?
Would this be an issue if he was a Hindu?

Of course not. This is just more of that dirty tricks that Kinsella used against Day.

Are we now to disregard all the great works of science because they were also done by Christians?
I urge all people who believe that to use their new-found enlightenment and test out the validity of Newton's laws.

This has nothing to do with him being a "Christian". It has everything to do with him being a Creationist. If it wasn't for the fact he is head of Science for this Government, nobody would give a damn.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's still illegal to discriminate against someone because of their religion. Isn't this exactly what you're doing?

Since you can't read, I'll repeat it: This has nothing to do with his religon.

It seems like he addressed the question tactfully. Is his job performance poor? Is he compelling people to learn unorthodox/incorrect theories? When you take into account the fact that the vast majority of the world believes in a Creator of some sort, how this man believes that came about seems rather inconsequential. Leave him alone and let him do his job.

He's the Minister for Science. His stance on Evolution is an important consideration.

$1:
But in the interview, Mr. Goodyear defended his government's approach and the January budget, and said it stacks up well when compared to what Mr. Obama is doing.

Thats where the guy lost credibility with me.

I don't think you should have to "confirm belief in evolution" to hold a science post, or any other, for that matter. I don't think creationism (or most other forms of deism) and evolution are necessarily mutual exclusive domains.

They should be attacking this guy on the merits of the case (the Conservatives and their antipathy towards public science) rather than his beliefs. That's a losing strategy, if you ask me.

As long as those beliefs do not effect how he preforms his job.
