Understandable from Gilles Duceppe's view. After all, he presents liberal amendments to the Budget and gets them shot down by the Liberals supporting the Tories. The Tories switch their interest from Quebec to Ontario and that means money as well. Then Ignatieff starts going after improving Liberal support in Quebec in Bloc ridings. Gilles also gave federalism a try by agreeing to the Coalition but that was also shot down.

Given the above, it might be said that Duceppe has been politically cornered into going back to the roots of his party. He had no other alternatives, so it is really not surprising at all.

I think that Ignatieff missed a major political opportunity by not supporting the Bloc's "liberal" amendments. That might have kept the Bloc thinking federally and garnered a "tougher" reputation for Ignatieff for supporting liberal concepts.

Certainly a bad start and bad first impression for the Liberal leader. Can he not handle the political moves necessary for an Opposition leader? If he can't then it might be a short leadership.

Please do, Mr. Duceppe. Pay your tab on the way out, and I hope the door hits you in the arse!

Moreso now than ever before, Quebec is a millstone around the neck of a drowning man!

Duceppe's looking for relevance - going back to this antiquated nonsense well won't help him.
