lily lily: $1: Gibsons resident Janeth Lesko was clearly traumatized by the experience of watching the bear being shot.
So why did she stay to watch? I also wonder how traumatized she'd have been had the police not shot the bear and a day or so later it attacked someone's pet.... or child? Then her , like I would blame the RCMP for not shooting it lol

The blame should be put on irresponsible owners of businesses and homes for not securing garbage. Its bear country and folks need to respect that.

I think people would have reacted differently if conservation officers handled this instead of the police. But since conservation officers weren't available to deal with what the police saw as a aggressive animal they dealt with it the best way they thought. I hate to hear of any animal being killed like this, maybe police should be armed with tranquilizer guns for cases like this until conservation officers can arrive. A sad story.

At least the RCMP resisted the urge to taser it first.

You should check out the news links from a couple weeks ago about the idiot in Whistler who was bitten by a black bear when he got too close trying for a picture.

Arrest the bear and put it in prison with the general population.
