Twinning that road has been like trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. The money could have been used to build a real road from North Vancouver to Brittania Beach via the Cap resevoir. That would have required some actual thought, something which the Campbell government has proven itelf incapable.

The road isn't being twinned.

Is that the only main highway to Whistler from Vancouver, or are "backroads" available?

The only other routes to Squamish go through Lillooet...The Duffy Lake road, which itself is in need of repair....The Anderson-Seton lake route...gravel...or the Hurley road through Gold Bridge....can be extremely rough. There is also the Harrison west road, but at the best of times it's 4x4...

If there is a road from Sechelt, it won't be of much use, as there ain't no bridge over the Squamish river until the Ashlu creek (river) 20 miles upstream....and it just goes to a TFL, and some new tunnel construction, not hooking up with the Sunshine Coast...yet.

Hmmm.... there's some sort of road, or there was, once upon a time. I don't know how for it goes/went though.

Maybe they could drive as far as Woodfibre and take the ferry to Darrell Bay... if it's still around.

I forgot about the river. :D

I thought I heard the back route was something like five hours!

If you're thinking of the Duffy Lake road, it's nearer 7 or 8. You drive from Squamish to Pemberton, through Mt Currie to the Duffy Lake Road, which takes you to Lillooet. From there, you drive to Hwy 97 near Cache Creek and then down the Canyon to Hope, Chilliwack and eventually Vancouver.

It's not exactly a commute, but it's a pretty drive. :D

Actually lily that's the long way around.....from Lillooet you drive south to Lyton, not north to Cache Creek.....of course the Lyton road can itself be a challenge

At the bridge of the twentythree camels, left into Lillooet, straight ahead to Cache Creek, at the Lytton end the bridge is just behind the Lytton hotel....say hi to Danny for me....

No, I meant the other way. If I'm leaving Lillooet, I come to a crossroad - left to Cache Creek and right to Lytton. If I go right, where do I hook up to 97 again?

Beautiful downtown Lytton, just after Hwy 12 crosses the Thompson
