$1M that is it? They should add a zero. $10M, make it hurt.

$1:
Liberal environment critic David Swann said the dead ducks have resulted in international pressure on the Alberta government to clean up the oilsands, starting with giant toxic tailings ponds.

I guess Mr I don't own a gun has never been out on opening day for ducks.

500 would be in the first hour in Ontario.

If people went duck hunting with buckets of toxic mine tailings you'd have a point.

There is a differece between sporting and just needless pain and suffering.

Actually 500 ducks is a $1M fine, according to the Alberta government.

$1:
A total of 10 charges have been laid against barge owner Gowlland Towing, Ted LeRoy Trucking, the company that hired the barge, and tug skipper Carl Strom.

Yeah, they're just getting away scot-free.

The $1,000,000 fine will be added to your next tank of gas,as for keeping ducks out of tailing ponds its just about impossible, We have flags over all our ponds and every year we get 6-10 ducks caught in the oil and after some chasing and nettimg they are sent out for cleaning ($1200 each). This year was bad all over because the lakes and ponds were still frozen when the geese arrived and in desperation they went where ever they could find open water. Tree huggers don't understand to make lumber you have to cut down trees, how many Peta members wear leather shoes.

Hey Tritium, how much should the Vancouver Zoo be charged for allowing that Golden Eagle to get loose and be eaten by the Lions? How about the Calgary Zoo? Remember all those Sting Rays dieing. Oh and don’t forget the farmers, if you tally up every nest they run over when their seeding in the spring, I’m sure it could be around 500 easily. But that’s counting ducks before they hatch.

"Throwing Hands In the Air"

You're right lets just destroy the enviroment in the name of greed, money, and oil, pollute the earth until we are the ones in danger...

You would think if they are discarding pollutants into a particualr pond, rather than paying $1M you might invest $250,000 into a net that can cover the pond or something to that effect.

It's just big companies worrying about the bottom dollar no matter who they hurt.

No ethics for Alberta Oil companies I guess..

Come on Tritium, if your going to add pictures to your posts of an Alberta topic. Could you at least use actual pictures from Alberta.

There aren't any (that I know of) as photographers were very conveniently kept away from the scene for "safety" reasons.

Bull. Shit.
