What's to be sheepish about? Sounds pretty smart to me. Though they missed one kid in the explanation of the scheme....

Couldn't you just get then four different coloured outfits? Or bibs with their name? Color coding their bodies seems....iffy

Damn they are cute! Just wait until they are running around. Talk about "deer in the headlights look" Hope the house is well baby-proofed. If not, it will be by attrition! :)

If they're all the same, why is knowing which one is which such a big deal?

If it were my kids, they'd be "the four babies" until they learned to talk and remember their own damned names.

It would be essential in the bonding between parent and child. Infants like consistancy. If you were to constantly call each one a different name or no name at all they would have a difficult time associating their name to themselves later. If they were unsure about why you were constantly calling them something different it might carry over into how they connect other words with objects. Babies are pretty damn smart and catch on to things at an early age, sometimes way before you think they should be able to.

They are individuals and as such should have their own identity.

They are NOT Borg and should not be known as 1 of 4, 2 of 4 etc etc

I think it beats them growing up thinking they have to take off their socks to remember their name, or their sisters'.

You must be an only child. I'm 44, and I still answer to my sister's name... sometimes even one of my brothers' too. :D

Being the youngest of six children, my mom would call me every name before she would get it right... even my brothers names too :D
