Nothing wrong with that at all. The rural area where I live it's common to see kids driving combines and etc. on the roads all the time. No one cares, not even the local cops. Where the PM had the kid out on a remote gravel road there's no harm.

If there's nothing wrong with it, then change the law to allow it. As long as it's illegal, IT'S ILLEGAL, whether you're the premier of the province or not.

It's against the law so don't do it....

the NDP in Saskatchewan must be doing as well as their counterparts in Alberta
to complain about something so petty

Speak for yourself. The SK government says:
$1:
We don't condone underage driving in our province

Drivers licenses aren't typically required for farm machinery travelling between fields. I doubt Wall took his daughter out on a combine.

Most country kids are ripping around the farms when they are 12... if this is what is considered "news" in Sask. I can see why people are always referring to it as the most boring province.

I don't think it's that it occured - it's the fact that the Premier admitted it, condoned it, and joked about it publicly.

Nobody is making this out to be a huge deal, but there's no reason to roll your eyes at the notion that the Premier is expected to represent the values of the government when speaking publicly as a government head.

The realities of rural life and the idiocies of urban laws are frequently in conflict. Nothing new there.

Example: You'd gasp if kids brought a gun to school in your neighborhood.

In parts of Alaska people would gasp if they didn't.

Wall took his kid out on a rural dirt road to drive. Were a farmer to do the same thing in the same place no one would care.

So where do you draw the line? The Premier ignores one law because he feels its irrelevent...maybe pot smokers have the same exemption - what harm is smoking a joint even though possession is illegal. Whats the harm of having 3 beers and a BAC of .09 - its just a little over the legal limit and then driving home? Whats the harm in stealing a $2 bag of chips...

Besides, if that child is in an accident without a license they are uninsured. You accuse me of picking and choosing laws that Natives wish to obey yet here the premier lawmaker of this province chooses to ignore laws because they do not suit his own personal needs...

I don't think anyone cares that people, kids, farm folk, teens in rural areas (and on the rez) drive without a license - most are ordinary folks just getting from point A to B or learning how to drive.

I think the point is that if the Premier of the province does not respect the letter of the law, then who will, and where does it end?
