One of the lakes near me had a light covering of ice yesterday. Today's high winds shifted the ice and drove it up against some docks people still had in the water. It continued to build which eventually tore the docks away. The ice and docks were last seen heading east.
Believe it or not, there were no power outages around here. The gusts of wind were more than enough to take down power lines, but all they did was blow some debris all over the place and knock over signs and such.
My lake doesn't start to freeze until January comes around. We haven't seen any ice being pushed up on shore for a few years now. That being said, this winter is supposed to be a but more brutal than most, according to the almanac.
