complete BS as an owner he can rent to anyone they like. Granted you have to be careful how to 'deny' people. For example, you cannot say I don't rent to parents with young kids, but you can simply say sorry, someone beat you to it, the unit is no longer vacant.

So, given your passionate hatred of "landlords" can I assume that you own you own home so you don't have to pay these "parasites" blood money? Or do you just want their property and will used classicide to get it because as every good little socialist knows.

"Murdering the bourgeoisie is fun, especially when your the one with the gun"?

On that day, Taranovskaya Tsarevsky told the applicant she could not rent the apartment to him because he had a baby that would cry and that she did not want that.

They weren't careful.

you make money doing *nothing*. money that other people have to get off their ass and work for.

bosses in general are parasites too, but unlike landlords, they usually show up for shifts.

proud of yourself for discriminating but finding loopholes. gross.

No, ungrateful tenants who scheme to use government power to avoid paying their rent are parasites.

actually I am loosing money every month. Condo fee's are climbing and rents are dropping and I still have a mortgage on one of them. I loose about $500 / month that I have to cover from my day job. You know the one where I have to show up to and do stuff...

businesses fail all the time. doesn't imply the bosses aren't wage-thieves. same goes for landlords that prey on broken parts of town thinking they'll make some scratch but end up losing out.

you trapped in it or what? what keeps you landlording if you're losing out?

But you're not really losing money. Because you're gaining equity. It's not like the money you're putting into the mortgage is disappearing forever never to be seen again.

For my part I've had good and bad landlords. Good ones that have a price for their property, fix a problem when it arises, and otherwise left us alone. And as a result when I left I went above and beyond to try and clean the place, renting a commercial steam cleaner and painting one of the rooms that one of my idiot roommates marked up the wall. They started off shaky by trying to demand a deposit (fun fact, in Ontario asking for deposit is illegal). I politely declined and reminded them that even asking for a deposit is illegal. As a result they had a tenant for two years that didn't destroy the place and was always happy to help with anything that went wrong in the place.

Then I've had shitty ones that try to nickle and dime you for everything, never fix anything, seem to be at the property every 3 days causing a stink about something, and just generally were fucking stupid. That one was a parasite.

the equity really depends on when or if I sell it. If I tried right now, I would loose a massive chunk of it. Simply because I bought it 10 years ago and they are selling for 20% LESS now. 10 years of ownership sure didn't inflate my equity that much I wouldn't even break even at this point.

Equity means ownership, by paying the mortgage you're gaining more ownership of the property. Whether you end up paying more than you ultimately get out of it doesn't change the fact that you're gaining equity. I think the word you're looking for is value. And unlike other investments, part of your investment is being paid by someone else.

So again, your mortgage payment and the rent you're putting towards it isn't getting flushed down the toilet. You're gaining an asset that can be held until the market is 20% the other way.

Good to know that you're willing to take all the benefits that our "capitalist" society has to offer rather than walking the walk and moving to one of the socialist paradises you want to turn this country into.

BTW Trudeau's doing a much better job than you ever could of turning this place into a toilet.

But here's the real question. Do you know what a landlord is or actually does? And the reason I ask is because with statements like the one you made it makes me think that you're assuming every landlord is an East Vancouver slum lord who makes their wage slaves pay them for the privilege of living in degrading and unsafe conditions.

I'm sorry but nothing could be farther from that truth truth and while there are still to many slumlords there are far more honest hard working landlords who are trying to get by, just like you.

So just in case you're interested have a read, it may change your thoughts on these evil bourgeoisie and stop the thoughts of committing classicide.
