You know it's bad when a Chicago Mayor is outraged by corruption!!!

Sort of like El Chappo being outraged at the drug addiction problem.

Wow, there's definitely something fishy going on.

But maybe the prosecutors figured it wasn't worth the effort. His acting career is all but finished and that's as harsh as any jail sentence.

DrCaleb DrCaleb:

From the link Pluggy posted earlier:

$1:
This redundant and vindictive indictment is nothing more than a desperate attempt to make headlines in order to distract from the internal investigation launched to investigate the outrageous leaking of false information by the Chicago Police Department and the shameless and illegal invasion of Jussie's privacy in tampering with his medical records," Geragos said.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/al ... ed-n987446

Sounds like that Grand Jury was fed a line manufactured by the Chicago PD.

Sure, you keep telling yourself that because people in the justice system with nothing to hide always lock the evidence so the public can't see it.

$1:
The judge in the case sealed the record of the proceedings so the evidence presented to the grand jury which indicted Smollett on 16 felony counts associated with allegedly filing a false police report will not be made public through the courts.

https:///www.dailymail.co.uknews/article-6852949/Chicago-assistant-states-attorney-says-didnt-exonerate-Jussie-Smollett.html

So, you're going to believe this guy

over this guy

But for a laugh guess which one of them has been charged as a co conspirator in a fraud and extortion case. ROTFL

$1:
CNN cut ties with its legal commentator Mark Geragos shortly after he was reported as a co-conspirator of star lawyer Michael Avenatti, who was arrested Monday on charges of fraud and attempted extortion.

Yeah, no.

Look for this case to be reopened and pursued after the mobbed up DA gets thrown in prison.

Legalizing hoaxes now. Very "Progressive."

Technically “Hoaxes” have never been illegal

Making a False police report is a crime, albeit a very minor one.

Quite the reaction for a very minor offense wouldn't you say and where did they get 16 felony charges if there isn't alot more to this than we know?

So, unless someone can get into those sealed records we'll never know what he was actually charged with and why he was let off for "community service" he apparently never did or why the $10,000 bond was enough to supposedly offset the costs of the investigation?

But since we'll likely never know we can at least play the guessing game and my guess is that he got a pass because he has something on someone in a very high political position. A position high enough to put the kind of pressure on the States Attorney's office to do something as off kilter as this.

Fair enough. I should have said 'Such' hoaxes.

But as to how minor such hoaxes are you might want to check again.

"
$1:
Under Illinois state law, filing a false police report is a Class 4 felony which carries a sentence of one to three years in prison.

But Smollett and any possible accomplices could also face other local charges related to the possible hoax attack, including:
Making a false 911 call about the staged incident — A friend of Smollett's allegedly called 911, which, if he knowingly conveyed false information, is also a Class 4 felony in Illinois and could lead to a prison sentence of one to three years.

Obstruction of justice — Smollett could face further charges if he was deemed to be “concealing or disguising physical evidence, planting false evidence, or furnishing false information,” which could mean another one to three years in prison.

Conspiracy — Smollett could plausibly also be charged with this crime if prosecutors believe there was “intent that an offense be committed” along with “agreement with another to the commission of that offense” — an additional Class 4 felony with a prison sentence of one to three years in prison.

In late January, Smollett said he received a racist, threatening letter containing a white powdery substance, later thought to be harmless only after HAZMAT was called to the scene. The two brothers believed to be involved in the alleged staging of the physical assault on Smollett have reportedly told police that the fake attack happened only after this threatening letter didn't get a “bigger reaction.” This incident is reportedly being investigated by the FBI and the U.S. Postal Service.

If federal authorities determine that the letter was itself an anthrax hoax or mail threat staged by Smollett, he could face further charges from federal prosecutors in addition to those being brought by Cook County, including:
Mailing threatening communications — If federal investigators believe Smollett was involved with mailing himself the threatening letter, then it is possible that he could be charged with mailing threatening communications, which consists of “knowingly so depositing or causing to be delivered ... any communication … addressed to any other person and containing any threat to injure the person of the addressee or of another” and can result imprisonment of up to five years.

Additional federal charges related to hoax threats (up to five years in prison), conspiracy (up to five years in prison), and obstruction of justice (with a variety of penalties) could all also potentially come into play if Smollett is determined to have carried out the mail threat hoax too.

Well he has managed to piss off the Chicago police department, and that is never a good thing. I would not be surprised one bit if they arranged a "real" beat down on his ass. There are lots of parolees (that do not want to go back to the big house ) that could be "persuaded" to make sure that Mr. Smollett eats through a straw for a few months. Or some contraband could be planted in his car during a pull over ensuring that he gets some face time with the jailhouse judges. Mr. Smollett smugly believes that he has beat the rap. I believe that his problems are just beginning.

I don't think his career is finished. This sword swallower is going to claim the victim hood status and to be PC some network will permit him will rise again in Hollywood.

Its funny how many times we think that someone's Hollywood career is over, only for them to return again. Sometimes (like Robert Downey Jr.) to be bigger than ever before. Its funny how a felony conviction can ruin the life of the average person, yet is barely a speed bump in the road for a celebrity. They get to return to a life of wealth and privilege. The rest of us get to work a drive through until we die.

That’s sad but true. Though I think this will be different. It’s one thing to be a drunk like RDJ was. All of his cast mates and producers stuck up for him. When it was speculated that he pulled this hoax because he was getting killed off, Lee Daniels quickly came out to say that was not in the cards for Smolett’s character.

He betrayed people’s trust. That will keep him out of work longer.

Those take money and connections that I sorely lack. Fortunately I have never been convicted of a felony (not for a lack of trying  ). Most people do not realize just how easy it is to be a convicted felon. When you think of felons you picture some guy in a ski mask armed with a gun kicking in doors, robbing people. That is what it SHOULD be. Unfortunately most felons were convicted on drug charges. Sometimes just the type of drug (and not the amount) make it a felony conviction. We say that we want to help them clean up their lives and get them off of drugs, yet we sentence them to a life of indentured servitude working minimum wage jobs the rest of their lives with a felony conviction. That miserable existence forces most of them back into a life of crime just to make ends meet. We set them up to fail, all for a victimless crime.

The parents in the college entrance scandal are being charged with felonies. I think that they should be punished and pay some fines, but a felony? No. Why should someone's life be ruined just because they wanted their kid to succeed in life? Its the parents who walk away from their kids, never spend time with them, never support them, never give a damn about them,.......they are the ones that should have their lives ruined with felony convictions. They should also be forcefully sterilized. That said I think that this Smollett fellow is exactly the type of person that should have his life ruined with multiple felony convictions. He wasted valuable police resources looking for perps that did not exist. He stirred up the entire country with false charges of racism. He would have had no problem with innocent people having their lives ruined by being falsely convicted of a crime that they did not commit just so he could get his rocks off. Fuck this piece of shit!!! If the criminal justice system does not get him, I hope Karma does.
