I will bet $100 to anyone that this cop with only face a disciplinary action and nothing criminal. Old boys of the badge club, three separate classes, one for cops one for normal citz and one for gun owners. And that retired cop can kiss my ass, no handguns in cities? what the fuck would that do? People are really idiotic with their ideas that would not only be unenforceable, but logistically impossible.

I'll add a side bet that the cop sold the weapon on the black market.

Honestly surprised this didn't happen way more often with the firearms in the trunk. The most common police vehicle 10-15 years ago across the continent was the crown vic, and the vast majority used the 1284x key. Which could open the car door, glove box, trunk, and start the engine. And you could order one online.

Curious to know if that's the case on newer fleets of cop cars.

few years ago a Calgary Cop had an AR15 stolen out of his personal vehicle in NW Calgary, nothing happened to him either outside of an internal disciplinary review and a slap on the wrist.
