Agreed. It's a piece of shit from the get-go.

It's not like Canada doesn't have some amazing bridge building firms. This one meets California's stringent seismic standards and there's a shitload of their bridges around the state.

The tax base of all these rural areas is shrinking every year. New pro-ag company legislation vs the old rules that favored family farms is speeding that up.

The budget available for a bridge that a few farmers use is likely laughable.

Sad but true.

Maybe the farmers need to ask President Trump for help.

You never know, he may just pay for it himself.

Robair Robair:
The budget available for a bridge that a few farmers use is likely laughable.

$1:
According to Sasktenders, the bridge contract was worth $325,000. Hicks said it's difficult to justify a huge budget for this bridge, which he estimated would have about 1,000 vehicles crossing it annually.

$1:
He said the issue was with five underwater pilings and "the whole five of them just went straight down. Boom. Four feet."

"So something tells me that something underneath the ground happened. I don't know what it was. They don't know what it was. Nobody knows what it is."

$1:
"I think it's irregular that a proper geotechnical program wasn't done for the piers in the water," said Gauvreau, an engineering professor at the U of T. "And it is not correct to say that it can't be done in a river. It's done all the time."

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatch ... -1.4829890

Now that geotechnical review doesn't look so expensive, compared to fixing the problem, hmmmm?

As the saying goes, "if you don't have the budget to do it right, how will you find the budget to do it over?"

$1:
He said the construction company is going to rebuild the bridge at no cost to taxpayers.
Good!
But there should probably be a complaint and an investigation. That could have easily killed somebody.

I did the math and it comes out to 1 vehicle crossing the bridge every 8.76 hours. So saying that it could have easily killed somebody is somewhat of an exaggeration.

Yea I'm just picturing flying down that gravel road after dark.

When you grow up driving the same gravel road over and over, you tend to start covering it at a quicker pace. Start drifting all the corners. Getting a little air over correction lines...

All of a sudden NO BRIDGE 8O

Gravel layer ?
Sand ?

Nah, just throw them in the mud, it'll be fine.
