When I was in my local park last week we were watching a momma Mallard duck and her brood of 8 ducklings just along the shore. A crow was also watching and was obviously waiting for an opportunity to snatch one. He could have easily as they were very tiny and must have just recently hatched. Mamma duck took steps towards him a couple times squawking and seemingly warning him to back off.

Last year was pimping for small perch with sweetcorn. Reeling one in and a 3lb Walleye struck the perch and hung on. Yes that was dinner. :D

I have to disagree, the Largemouth Bass I've caught and cooked from Saltspring Island and other locales on Vancouver Island were all great table fare. Filleted, rolled in dry breadcrumbs and lightly sauteed in oil or pork lard and they were great [drool] !!

Possibly, as the ones I've eaten were from southern impoundments with water that looks like something a rat wouldn't drink.
