What a misleading report. The article doesn't say half are unemployed, it says half ARE employed. That's a different thing. People NOT searching for work aren't unemployed. Women don't work in the Muslim world and that attitude isn't likely to change immediately upon arrival in Canada. We also know that Muslim women who are native-born Canadians participate less in the workforce than non-Muslim women. So we would only expect, at most, half of the adult Syrian refugees to have taken jobs. That doesn't mean the other half are unemployed. If half of adults are employed already, that would mean almost ALL who were looking for work found it! That would be an incredible success story, well beyond anyone's wildest dreams, that nearly all the refugee fathers have found work so quickly.
