All Canada had to do was to reciprocate. Flights between the lower 48 and Alaska would have had to go out to international airspace in the Pacific and the matter would have been over in a day.

The gov't probably didn't know either. You know how it works, you call any gov't office and they click their fingernails on the deask so it sounds like they're keyboarding, ensure you the matter will be looked into and hang up.
