Canada and the US have a long history of Immigration, sometimes in sudden spurts. Germany and most of Europe do not. There is very little that Germany can teach us.
That said, Germany has taken in a huge influx. I don't think Canada or the US has ever taken in such a large influx of Immigrants, nevermind Refugees.
